Privacy Policy

The short version

We collect as little data as possible. We don't require an account, we don't track you across the web, and we don't sell your information to anyone.

Information we collect

Location data: When you allow it, we use your browser's location to find restaurants near you. You can also manually enter a city instead. We use your location only to provide search results and do not store it on our servers.

Search analytics: We keep an anonymous record of searches to understand food trends and improve the service. Each record contains only the dish or term searched, an approximate area (such as your city or region), and the time of the search. These records contain no name, account, IP address, or precise location, and cannot be linked back to you or any individual.

Usage data: Like most websites, our servers automatically log basic request information (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and debugging purposes.

Aggregated insights

We may produce and share or sell aggregated, de-identified insights derived from search analytics — for example, “searches for birria tacos in Houston grew this month” or rankings of trending dishes by region. These insights are statistical and aggregate only. They never include personal information, and they cannot be used to identify or contact any individual.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell or share your personal information
  • We don't require you to create an account
  • We don't use tracking cookies for advertising
  • We don't link searches to individual users

Third-party services

BiteFinder uses third-party services to provide search results and maps. When you click a link to a restaurant's website, Google Maps, or Yelp, you are subject to that site's own privacy policy. We also use OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service for location lookups.

Cookies

We use minimal cookies necessary for the site to function (such as caching search results for faster repeat searches). We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes to this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top. We encourage you to check back periodically.
